Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay: Let Them Eat Horse

The celebrity chef we all love to hate, Gordon Ramsay, is causing some waves. The chef is saying that the British should eat more horse, this on the tail-end of the Kentucky Derby.
Ramsay, who recently served up horse on his new TV show, said it was “slightly gamey” & “packed with protein.”
While it is not illegal to eat horse meat in the UK, it has not widely been eating since the 1930s.
I think I’ll have to stick with the new ways, then, petting the horses & going back to my tofu salad.

I’d try horse. I wouldn’t dismiss it until I had first tried it.

Hi There from Canada Gordon, you are something of a TV icon here. I can’t believe that you would condone the eating of horse flesh. I live in a rural area, horse country as it is described, with a lot of trail ride businesses. In case you are not aware, these horses, the majority of them are sent to sale barns come early winter and sold for horse meat. Being shipped off to Montreal after they are fattened up, and slaughtered. Then the carcas is shipped to Europe. I would invite you to come to Canada,Ontario in particular, and check out a SALE BARN. If you can endorse the eating of Horse meat after seeing what goes on, then my respect for you has just gone out the window, and I’ll start “bad- mouthing you”, as do all my work-mates. Oh! By the way, I am a Sous Chef in a *****, Resort. Regards Gloria

If Gordon Ramsay really endorses eating horse meat, I will quit watching his shows. I work with an equine rescue group and most people have no clue about the horrific things horses endure before and at slaughter. Most of them were race horses or riding horses and had good relationships with people. Many horses break legs or are trampled to death on packed trucks on the way to slaughter, and their deaths at slaughter are indescribably brutal. Gordon, go to the Canadian and Mexican slaughterhouses and get educated. See a horse killed and maybe its meat won’t taste so good.

Gordon doesn’t have feelings..
I bet he has never loved anything else then food..
I hope i never eat horsemeat..
He can think more.. If he’d think how much he’s eating, some creature that has a owner that proply hoped that the horse would live forever, and he’d be hated from that..
I would reither die then letting someone kill a horse!!

I love Horse meat, I wish it was more readily available in England. My local butcher sells Zebra and kangaroo, but no Horse meat, which is widely available anywhere else in Europe.
