Cookbook of the Day: ‘My Grandmother’s Chinese Kitchen’ by Eileen Yin-fei Lo
Chinese cooking isn’t that easy to do if you haven’t grown up around the ingredients & cooking methods used in this type of cuisine. That’s why I rely on Eileen Yin-fei Lo’s “My Grandmother’s Chinese Kitchen: 100 Family Recipes and Life Lessons”.
Lo was born & raised in Guangdong, a southeastern province of China which is known for their less spicy Cantonese cooking. More than just a cookbook, Lo’s new book is a dedication to her grandmother who had a strong impact on Lo.
Lo writes, “Not only did she teach me to cook practically, but (she) saw to it that I learned as well the methods and philosophies of cookery, the joy of creation.”
This is a great cookbook that not only introduces you to Cantonese cooking, but to the memories of Eileen Yin-fei Lo as well, a very charming cookbook.
