Delicious Links: Pumpkin!

You know that Halloween’s just around the corner when recipes for pumpkin-infused foods start showing up everywhere. Well, bFeedMe is no exception- here are some delicious links to some of my favorite pumpkin recipes online. Naturally, I have a lot of Halloween-themed recipes in store for you, so think of this as the first taste:
1. Pumpkin Bread from Half Assed Kitchen, made with a bit of molasses, and a bunch of spices. Mmm.
2. Pumpkin Cookies from My Baking Addiction. I always have a soft spot for iced cookies, and these ones- made with two cans of solid pumpkin, are like having pumpkin pie in cookie form!
3. Pumpkin Soup (from Sweet Pea) is something we like to have all year round, not just in October. This recipe is made with vegetable broth, so it’s perfect for vegetarians, but feel free to use a good chicken broth. Smooth and comforting.
4. Finally, this Chickpea Pumpkin Cake (from Mixing Bowl) is an Indian recipe for a cake that’s meant to be “eaten at breakfast, with a glass of milk”- but I’ve had it straight from the oven, and wow.
What are your favorite pumpkin recipes?

Ready for some comfort food? Yeah, me too. This week, I’ve picked out five uber-comforting dishes for you, with the kicker that these are all pretty easy recipes to follow. See for yourself:
1. From Tea & Cookies comes these (surprise, surprise) cookies that look like they would be awesome with tea. Or milk. Or coffee… they’re Apricot Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies. Their name speaks for itself, no?
2. Over at Smitten Kitchen, this Cantaloupe Salsa has me smitten for several reasons: first of all, I love cantaloupe. So much that I’ll take any excuse to have it. And in a salsa? Chilled, as a side to something spicy? Come to Mama.
3. We’ve all had Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, but Dozen Flours’ Upside Down Sweet Cherry Cake looks like it might be even better. If you like cherries, this is a no-brainer.
4. If this is how geeks eat, then I wouldn’t mind being called one! What geeks eat’s Perfect Potato Salad is made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, chopped fresh parsley, green onions, and mmm… bacon.
5. And finally, a pancake recipe! Because I will never tire of featuring pancake recipes here at bFeedMe. Banana Pancakes from My Baking Addiction are chock-full of good stuff, from fresh bananas to whole milk to vanilla extract to cinnamon. Pour on some maple syrup and a generous dollop of butter.

When you’re watching your carb intake, suddenly carbs are everywhere! Well, they are anyway in this week’s picks of delicious links:

1. The Daring Bakers took on Bakewell tarts this week, and among all of the resulting mouthwateringness, I happened upon alpineberry’s Macadamia Mango version. What I would give for a slice of that right now…
2. Moving on to something a little healthier, these are Kayotic Kitchen’s Pineapple Tequila Kabobs, which are grilled and sprinkled with coconut. Can you say burst of flavor?
3. And because I love corn (and miss it dearly), I can’t take my eyes off the delightfully named Half Assed Kitchen’s Grilled Corn on the Cob. Slathered with lots of sweet butter, sprinkled with some fleur de sel.
4. My favorite Pioneer Woman is on a Fourth of July kick, and her Sundried Tomato Pasta Salad is one of her offerings. And because I just so happen to have a pack of sundried tomatoes in the pantry, and we’re expecting some friends and family over for Saturday dinner, this one’s definitely going on the menu.
5. And finally- frozen yogurt! Sometimes I think I like frozen yogurt better than ice cream. Sometimes. seven spoons’ Bumbleberry Frozen Yogurt uses Greek yogurt, mixed with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries- and she warns us to eat it the day it’s made. No problem.

This week, we’re linking to recipes that make you think a little bit out of the box- because doing the unexpected in cooking and baking is always a good thing.

1. First up is Brownie Points’ New Tricks for Your Coffee, certainly one of my favorite posts of the week, maybe ever. She gives us ideas on how to “teach your coffee to jump through hoops” – by salting it, of example.
2. Of course, Chocolate & Zucchini’s Sticky Chocolate Cake caught my eye. It uses prunes and maple syrup- two ingredients I’ve never before used in a chocolate cake. But from the photo you just know it’s delicious.
3. Next up are seven spoons’ Fig & Walnut Crisps, which at first glance look kind of like very thin biscotti- then you realize they contain dried figs, walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and (one of my favorite healthy picks) flax seed. Mmm.
4. I’ve only recently discovered the joy that is lemon pasta- now it’s one of my favorite dishes ever. Smitten Kitchen puts a twist on it with this Asparagus, Goat Cheese & Lemon Pasta, which is so simple, yet so obviously glorious.
5. And finally- My Baking Addiction’s Mini Angel Food Cakes are next on my baking list this week, because- well, who doesn’t love Angel Food cake? And to do them in miniature? And topped with strawberries? I’m so there.

This week, our delicious picks include some of the most comforting comfort foods out there:
- SimplyRecipes shows us How to Make Homemade Sausage – and it’s really not that hard. I tried this the other night, making patties from the sausage mix because I don’t own a sausage stuffer. Also would be great in your next lasagna recipe.
- Broccoli and Chicken Noodle Soup is the ultimate in comfort food. She likens the hot soup to a “hug”, and I have to agree. Perfect for rainy days- or for days that just feel rainy (ever have those?)
- Brown Sugar Pavlova with Banana and Rum Syrup just spells happiness for me. Just imagine the sweet meringue, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with that sinful syrup oozing over it… okay, I must go make this now.
- Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. I’ve made many a home-made Philly Cheesesteak in my time, but never one as delicious-looking as this. The meat is finely marbled wagyu, and the cheese sauce has sake, pimenton-adobo sauce, and white truffle oil in it. Can you say decadence?
- And finally, Homemade Bagels, which are surprisingly easy to make- and, as all breads you bake yourself and take straight from the oven, so much better than anything commercially available.
