Disney Bans Junk Food at Parks

disney-bans-junk-food-10-17-2006.jpgThe fun-for-all Disney company announced today that they will no longer be serving junk foods in their parks, worldwide.

This new ban comes as the topic of childhood obesity is heating up, with help from people like celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.  What’s off the menu?  Well, hold your breath, it looks like burgers & chips are being cut.  Film & cartoon characters owned by Disney will no longer be promoting salty snack & sugary drinks.

So go ahead & say your goodbyes to your favorites such as The Incredibles Pop Tarts and Winnie The Pooh biscuits.  Disney, in a huge blow to the the fast food market, has ended its 10-year $1 billion deal with McDonald’s to advertise on happy meals.

Well, it looks like folks are finally starting to listen & we’re very proud of Disney for making this move.

What do you think?

  6. Pheonix says:

What??? half the food you get at disney is a rare treat for some and i think its stupid how people are trying to stop people from eating there favourite foods! If peeple wish to pig out and potentially gain weight then let them! its their problem! Its no-ones business what other people eat and how much they eat, i love mcdonalds and i love eating it in disneyland and yet i am not even close to bieng over weight.

  7. The truth says:

    This article is bunk.

    People will believe anything.

Why does WDW still sell McDonalds fries?

I guess it was an illusion I was drinking Coke at WDW.

You can get burgers, hot dogs and other fatty foods anywhere at WDW.

The author should check their facts first.

  8. emily says:

um ok. people who go to disney enjoy eating a burger or desert!? its like half the reason disney world rocks, to sample all the kinds of food! AVERAGE PEOPLE go to disney ONCE or TWICE! and im sure those two burgers arent gonna make u gain 500 pounds! if people want to go to disney every day of their life and eat like a cow GO AHEAD! its their fault they cant resist eating every crumb in site.

  9. Ellie says:

Well, I agree that pop tarts should be taken out, but not the stuff Walt Disney had in the parks traditionally, like, the ice cream in that one parlor…

  10. fran says:

what?! ugh! that means NO MORE of that delicious food in disney?! oh come on! i’m going to disney this year!

  13. Vlyn says:

We were just at Walt Disney World in May 2011 and my husband had a huge jucy hamburger , with french fries in the Magic Kingdom. They are also still serving Mcdonalds fries and all the other “junk food” so I am not sure where the person who posted this got the information.
