Los Angeles’ Infamous Encounter Restaurant Closes for Six Months
If you’re even flown into Los Angeles, you’ve more than likely seen the infamous Encounter Restaurant with its futuristic construction. Well, the only encounter folks are likely to have in the coming months is a construction crew. Hope you weren’t banking on the eatery for your L.A. sightseeing trip next month!
As you can see from this fabulous image of Encounter, the restaurant itself is centered inside a structure & where the arches come together, it actually rotates & gives the diner a nice, panoramic view from the building’s glass walls. Unfortunately, the building that houses the restaurant hasn’t been renovated in over 50 years. A little scary, right?
The structure has been deemed unsuitable by inspectors, as over a half-ton piece of stucco “fell off the underside of one of the arches and smashed into the eatery’s roof.” Well, that probably wasn’t good, was it? So it looks like construction crews will be taking over the Encounter Restaurant’s renovation for at least the next six months.
