Nickelodeon Loves Their Junk Food Ads
Well, it’s every man for himself in TVland it would seem. According to a new study, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is revealing that at least 80% of the ads shown on Nickelodeon are for none other than junk food.
Does that come as a surprise to you? CSPI states that the station shows primarily ads for restaurants (like Burger King), as well as food & beverages that are sometimes tied in with some of the characters on Nickelodeon.
But the TV station does not agree with the results of the study, stating that 10% of the network’s advertising pushes healthy foods. Hrmm, well if 80% is junk food & 10% is healthy food, Nickelodeon better check their math on that one, ’cause it actually works out.
Spend a few minutes this week watching Nickelodeon & you tell me whose side you’re on.
