Simple Dinner Dishes For Christmas Feasting

January 3, 2018 By Rebecca

There are a million and one different aspects to consider when purchasing your new home, but there is one thing that always remains true. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and new homebuyers weigh their decision to buy on the design of this one room.

Coming together for a meal is a part of our culture of comradery, and Christmas time makes those meetings all the more meaningful. Before you plan out the family feast, check out a few of these simple holiday dishes to make the celebration preparations a little bit easier.

Fully loaded sweet potatoes

Forget the hassle of sweet potato casserole, and put the yummy toppings right on the potato itself. Bust the sweet potatoes opened, place the butter and marshmallows on top, and let them bake.

You do not really want to spend all of your time in the kitchen for Christmas, so keep it simple. Just because you did not spend all day and all night cooking, does not mean there is any less love in the meal.

Chicken drumsticks and veggies

Another toss-in-the-oven recipe for Christmas feastivities is the simple combination of chicken drumsticks and veggies. Baby red potatoes, baby carrots, onion slices, and some tasty herbs and spices will make your tummy smile.

Baked macaroni and cheese

The kids will silence their protest against all these strange tastes when they see that you have prepared baked macaroni and cheese. You are free to get “krafty” with your mac ‘n’ cheese recipe, but the base ingredients remain the same; noodles and cheese.

Green bean casserole

Add a classic dish to your side menu at Christmas, and spring for green bean casserole. Green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and some French’s crispy fried onions create a glorious flavor in your mouth.

Homemade cornbread

Milk, flour, cornmeal, baking powder, eggs, and vegetable oil combine to make the sweet flavor of homemade cornbread. Adding cornbread to any meal makes the feast a bit better. Add a touch of sugar to the mix to make the finished product a little sweeter.

Cranberry sauce

Cranberry sauce is a necessary addition to every holiday spread, and it is probably the easiest piece of the ensemble to prepare. Without going homemade on this recipe, there are plenty of healthy, canned alternatives. Just pop the top and serve.

Chilled apple-walnut stuffing

For a sweeter solution to stuffing, try serving chilled apple-walnut stuffing for Christmas. The recipe for this holiday delight calls for mixed dried fruits such as apricots, figs, and raisins mixed in with chopped walnuts, and baked apple slices. Just mix all the ingredients together and chill it overnight for the tastiest of results.
