Ham Croquettes

March 7, 2011 By Delia

Croquettes are a delicious treat to start a meal. It can also be eaten as a snack or a side. You can add cheese to the recipe to make the dish creamier.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon of olive oil

2 teaspoons of flour

1/4 liter of milk

1 Egg, beaten

100 grams of bread crumbs

Nutmeg

150 grams of ham, cut into small pieces

Salt

Heat the oil in a frying pan for 1-2 minutes. Remove it from the heat and add the flour. Mix well until it becomes paste like. Return the pan back to low flame. Stir in the milk slowly. Add the ham. Season it with salt and cumin. Stir constantly. Once the mixture is stiff, transfer it to a bowl and let it cool.

Mold the paste into oval shapes using your hands.  Dip it in the beaten egg and roll it in bread crumbs. Repeat this process until the paste mixture is finished. You can refrigerate it for later use if desired or you can fry it immediately.

Heat the oil in a frying pan or deep fryer. Fry the croquettes until they are golden brown. Drain the excess oil using paper towels or place the croquettes in a strainer. Serve warm with salad if desired.
