Easy Chocolate Mousse

February 16, 2011 By Delia

Here’s an easy to make dessert for you and your family. It is also a treat for guests when you have dinners or parties at home. If you have time, you can make chocolate fudge or chocolate sponge cake. Use it as your first layer before topping it with the mousse. Brownies can be a good base too.

Be creative in serving them individually or as a cake. You can also substitute white or dark chocolate chips for a different flavor. Layering different types of chocolate would definitely be delicious too!

Serves 4

Ingredients:

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 large fresh egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup heavy cream

Sweetened whipped cream for garnish

Heat the cream until it is hot, but not boiling.

In a bowl, combine the chocolate chips, vanilla and egg. Blend it in a blender or using an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Pour in the warm milk and blend for another 30 seconds or until smooth.

Pour into wine glasses or small bowls. Refrigerate it until it sets.

Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Serve chilled.
