I’ve gone through a lot of kitchen thermometers in my life- and, since starting a baking business, even more than my fair share. I’ve broken thermometers, melted thermometers, misplaced them, given them away… etcetera and etcetera. For a long time, I used Taylor thermometers because they were so affordable that even if I did destroy them so often, it didn’t hurt quite so much to replace them with new ones all the time.
And then… this baby came into my life.
This is the CDN Proaccurate Stainless Digital Thermometer, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that this is the best thermometer I’ve EVER used.
And it’s affordable.
The thermometer itself feels nice and sturdy (it’s made of stainless steel), but what I truly love about it is its speed and accuracy. I’ve learned that those are the magic words when it comes to thermometers, and the CDN performs excellently both ways. You have to make sure to calibrate it when you first get it, but after that there’s no configuration required.
Did I mention speed? I’ve always been frustrated by “instant-read” thermometers that obviously had no idea what the word “instant” meant. The CDN gives a readout in three seconds– and its oversized digits are easy to see even through a cloud of steam (I’m speaking from experience!)
$15.95, and worth every penny.
