With Halloween just around the corner, children are getting all excited about dressing up and getting delightful treats. In your own home, you can make your own Halloween goodies that your children will surely love. Don’t be surprised if they’d rather not go trick-or-treating since the treats you have at home are more than enough to fill their tummies and senses.
This is probably one of the easiest to prepare and also one of the most filling, tummy-wise. With the use of ghost-shaped cookie cutter or any other Halloween-themed shapes and figures, breads filled with good old peanut butter jelly are easily converted to spooky sandwiches. If you will notice, two raisins serve as ghost eyes which instantly put the sandwich to life (or is it death?)
Cheese Finger Food
Now this is literally finger food!. Mozzarella string cheese Halloween goodies that look like fingers will definitely make your children’s day. Creators of this recipe suggest that handlers wear plastic gloves to keep the cheese smudge free. The fingernails are made from bell peppers cut into appropriate shape which will be attached with a smudge of cream cheese on a carved shallow area just below the rounded end of each half. Carving out tiny horizontal wedges will add realism to the fingers.
Creepy Eyeball Cupcakes
You can choose to bake your own mini cup cakes based on your favorite recipe or buy ready-made ones if pressed for time. Frost the cupcakes using white icing and then put a round chocolate candy at the center, the closest you can find that resembles an eye. For the bloodshot eye effect, red gel will be perfect to represent veins.
Again, you have the option to use the original brownie recipe for this or you can use your own. The coffin shape can be cut out from the cooked brownie using a prepared template as well as the marzipan to be placed on top. The white details were done using royal icing. You can choose to come up with your own design.
What is Halloween without some slime? This recipe cleverly combines two colors of gelatin and provides the eerie touch with the use of gummy worms. The worms are set in place by pouring unset gelatin over it.
There are a lot of other ideas worthy of trying but the above are among the simplest.
